Visual Studio 2010



Microsoft announced the immediate availability of Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 and Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Beta 2 to MSDN subscribers; general availability will follow on Oct. 21. The company also outlined a simplified product lineup and pricing options for Visual Studio 2010 as well as new benefits for MSDN subscribers, including the Ultimate Offer, available to all active MSDN Premium subscribers at the official product launch on March 22, 2010.

I ran into a funny issue recently using Fluent NHibernate. Saw that it was storing enums as Strings in the database. I'm sure there was a reason, but I didn't understand why. I would prefer to store them as integers. Hacking around in Fluent NHibernate I found the following:

Microsoft announced that they have added memcpy() to their list of banned functions. The function memcpy() has been responsible for a bunch of security problems in Microsoft and third party products. This is the second time that I went to the Enterprise Developer Conference. Due to the downturn Microsoft merged the financial and health/live sciences conferences into one. Last years main focus was High Computing, this years main focus was......tada.....drumroll.....Cloud Computing. No big surprise of course. There were always 5 sessions at the same time so I can only report on the ones that I attended. The SQL Server Data Services session was in my opinion the best one but then again I am biased.
